Walmart Vision Centers offer convenient and inexpensive access to vision exams, glasses and contacts in their stores.

However, Walmart will insert your existing lenses when you order new frames. This is what I discovered after doing some research:

Walmart Vision centers will be able to fit prescription lenses into replacement frames from 2022. Walmart can even install replacement lenses within old frames, provided they are exactly the same sizes. Walmart offers this free service when you buy either lenses or frames.

Is it worth the price?

Your local Walmart Vision Center may be willing to change your lens frames for you at no additional cost. You will have to purchase your new frames at Walmart Vision Center before the lenses can be replaced.

Is Walmart willing to replace my lenses if they are damaged?

Walmart Vision Center cannot replace your prescription lenses in damaged lenses.

You can ask your Walmart to recycle old lenses. However, they must be in good shape and have no damage like cracks or chips in the glasses.

Walmarts are willing to fit prescription lenses into old frames provided that the item was originally purchased at Walmart. This can be different from one Walmart Vision Center store to another.

Where can I find out if Walmart will put my older lenses in new frames?

Ask the Vision Center in your Walmart to find out whether they will replace your lenses with new ones. Locating your closest Vision Center is simple with the Walmart site’s locator.

It will differ from one Walmart store to the next. My Walmart Vision Center informed me that while most Walmart Vision Centers are able to replace worn lenses with new ones, some Walmart stores may not. Before you go to Walmart, make sure that you call the local Walmart Vision Center.

The cost of having old lenses replaced with new frames is not extra. You must however purchase them at Walmart Vision Center. Frames must be identical in size to the existing frames. Lenses must not have been damaged.
