French Journal of Venereal Diseases was the first to publish a report on fellatio inducing mouth lesions. The 2013 summary of the literature about fellatio associated oral lesions indicated that there are likely to be more than one injury mechanism from the sex act. In that 2013 paper, the authors stated that “direct and forceful contact by the distal penis to the palate might result in mucosal injuries with ruptured submucosal veins and hemorhage.” As described in 2018, there is another potential cause: “The negative pressure produced while sucking” could also be damaging tissue in your mouth.
It’s unclear that fellatio can cause lesions, even though there has been limited research. TikTok’s 2018 video featured a study that examined Peruvian sex workers. It found that fellatio lesions are usually asymptomatic. They can be detected during a dental exam or when the individual is brushing their teeth. They usually resolve on their own. Although these lesions are usually resolved on their own, the point is to not suggest that your dentist has any secrets to your sex life. According to a case report from 2013, fellatio is an option for those working in the field of head-neck medicine. The presence of petechiae could also be due to other reasons. Also, it is inaccurate for dentists to assume they can detect if someone has recently had oral sex. When patients are accompanied by their sexual and medical histories, they can more accurately diagnose fellatio injuries. “Because the fellatrix or fellator may be unaware of the etiology of the lesions or may be reluctant to provide these details of the sexual history,” the 2013 case report argued , “the clinician needs to have a high index of suspicion based on the patient’s clinical presentation and collaborating history of preceding fellatio.” Because there are several causes for petechiae in the mouth and because most acts of fellatio do not leave marks, the claim that a dentist can tell if you have or have not performed oral sex on a penis is “Mostly False.” Those caveats aside, some acts of fellatio could potentially be detected by a dentist when observations of lesions are combined with a patient’s own medical and sexual history.

Brad Podray (orthodontist) said, in another TikTok clip, that it is possible to tell “Sometimes” when he addresses the rumor. Petechiae is bruising of the soft palate. We don’t usually care unless the patient is very young or has signs of abuse. @MandiMaee, a TikTok user, also commented on the topic of oral sex dentistry. I have been going to Angel Care Dental since I was a young child… so quite a while 😉 and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
