The Earning Potential of Dentists Vs. Job satisfaction

One thing is expected to earn a salary, but another thing is quality of living. If a high-salary job comes with stressful work hours and low satisfaction, it is not helpful to inquire “How much does a dentist make?”

The majority of dentists work full time during office hours. However, it will differ from one practice to the next. Some offices are open until late or on weekends. This can create a very flexible or a very demanding schedule, depending on the volume of patients seen. Good news: A greater number of patients is directly linked to a more lucrative practice. Another good thing is the fact that most hours are very predictable.

A research brief by the University of Illinois at Chicago and the ADA Health Policy Institute (HPI) found that job satisfaction among dentists depends, in part, on whether a dentist works in a dentist-owned-and-operated practice, or is affiliated with a dental support organization (DSO, also sometimes known as a dental management organization). DSO dentists appreciate the many unique aspects of their jobs, including weekends off and less time spent doing non-clinical work. It should also be noted that many dental support organizations provide mentorship opportunities and a strong support network.

Generally, dentists seem to be more satisfied with their work, and achieve a better earning potential, when they can offer more services to their patients particularly when it comes to cosmetic dentistry. Making people smile better seems to improve their self-esteem.

What Does a Dentist Make Really?

Everyone has their top-earners and bottom-earners, not just dentistry.

One dentist can make millions, travel all over the world, and has a Manhattan office on Park Avenue. Meanwhile, there are others who struggle to earn $60,000 per year.

This is why it’s so surprising that two people in the same field can see such huge differences. Some factors like geographical location can be a factor, but it doesn’t make any difference.

For this puzzle to be solved, we researched. For the complete answer, continue reading.

Poor Spending Habits

It won’t help you answer the question about how much a dentist makes, but it will tell you how much they can retire on. It is not common for everyone to have good spending habits.

Many people neglect to make their own payments first. They aren’t able to save enough for the future and don’t have any financial plans.

They instead spend it on trips, clothes, homes and cars. The consequences of excessive spending are inevitable, no matter your profession.

Whether you’re earning a good salary or not, it’s imperative to learn how to create a working budget for yourself and your family. This will ensure that you can provide enough income even for the worst.

Hire a good financial planner and an accountant to help you plan for your financial future.

I have been going to this place for the last 5 years. I have had many problems. They took care of them. The customer service, care, guidance and treatment I have got have been always extraordinary. Everyone is professional and dedicated to deliver the best. I am sorry, I don’t remember all the names of the wonderful staff. Some of the names of the wonderful team members I remember I would like to mention like : Dr. Bains, Alex, Anna and Rupa. A big thank you for all the years for the amazing service🙏 Keep up the great work. You all are amazing! – RIGHT PATH LEARNING
I have been going to Angel Care Dental since I was a young child… so quite a while 😉 and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The facility is beautiful, the care and gentle touch mean everything to me because I don’t like going to the dentist – who does? But it’s different here and I leave feeling genuinely happy. Mihaela is the BEST hygienist and Dr Galo is kind and extremely gentle. Even a root canal isn’t half bad with Dr Galo! Dr Soraya is also wonderful! Thanks Angel Care. ☺️ – Tara H
