Best Baby Food Makers
There are many benefits to using a baby-food maker
It saves money. Baby food that isn’t organic or pasture-raised doesn’t cost as much. This holds true especially if you choose to use organic and grass-fed ingredients, which are generally more costly. Manufacturers must also consider other costs such as shipping, packaging and space to sell to supermarkets. However, if you are able to buy the raw ingredients individually you will save a lot of money over the long-term.
Your baby’s diet is known. You don’t always know what your baby is eating unless you look at the entire ingredients list. Products can contain ingredients or excessive salt and sugar that are not healthy for babies.
You’re using fresh ingredients. You’re using fresh, high-quality ingredients. The steaming process that baby food makers use also allows for greater nutrition to be preserved. It will make you feel great knowing your baby is getting the right vitamins and minerals to help him grow.
New flavors can be introduced. This is a wonderful way for baby to learn about the different spices and herbs you use. Incorporate some cinnamon and curry powder in her sweet potatoes or carrots.
You now know the benefits of buying a baby-food maker. Here are the top ones and the information you need to be aware of before you make a decision.
These are the Best Baby Food Making Machines in 2022
1. BEABA Babycook 4in1 Solo Baby Food Maker.
The top-rated BEABA Babycook 4in1 baby food maker is well known for reliability, ease of use, safety, and efficiency. The best baby food maker on the marketplace, they are. Even though it is a bit more expensive than other options, we think it is worth the extra cost. The BEABA works well and looks amazing. It uses a large 4.7-cup capacity so you can fit several servings of food in one batch. You can operate it with one hand. So you can easily hold your baby and steam, puree or defrost your food. The steel reservoir used to hold water for steaming has a stainless steel construction. Also, surfaces that may come into contact with food such as the ones that contain lead or BPA are completely safe. It is very reliable, simple to clean and easy to use. Our surprise was the quietness of the motor when pureeing our baby food in the blender and the uniform steaming. Just place your fresh cut veggies or fruits into the basket. Next, press the steam button. You can then steam the food in about 13-15 mins. Once it is done, just dump your fresh cut fruits and vegetables into the basket. The knob and button are very intuitive, and we found them easy to use. The button was intuitive and easy to use. We also made baby puree, blended frozen fruits and veggies and created a mini smoothie. As a blender, it worked quite well. Beware that any baby food machine that uses steaming will cause mineral deposits in the water tank. Beaba suggests that you descale your refrigerator with vinegar each few months. If you do have an issue it comes with a 1-year warranty, and the customer service is great. Beaba Babycooks have been adored by others. Babylist, Babygearlab, WhatToExpect and WhatToExpect love it! Interested? You can check out the Beaba Babycook here . Want to cook multiple recipes at once? You can also get the Beaba Babycook Duo, which costs about $50 more.
2. Babymoov Duo Baby Food Maker
It’s a new product for the year. We got it early in January to do some testing. This is a top-rated, versatile baby food maker that offers serious functionality. The Babymoov Duo Meal Station is the only baby food maker on this list that can support simultaneous and separate steaming and blending, which allows you to start steaming another food (or keep steaming one tray of food) while blending another. This is great for cooking two different food items at the same time. So, for example, steaming green peas in the microwave while steaming sweet potatoes takes about four minutes. Once the steam has started, the sweet potatoes take about ten minutes. So, this system allowed us to start blending the peas while finishing steaming the sweet potatoes. It’s a wonderful flexibility feature for busy kitchens. You can also make as much as nine cups of food with this machine, which is why it’s the top-rated baby foodmaker on this list. That’s like 25 meals for a baby, so that’s a big deal. You can make a smaller amount of food if you do not need it. For smaller jobs and for larger ones, it worked very well. You can use the steamer for small and large jobs. Simply add some water at the bottom and turn on the light. Once the light is off set the timer.
The blender’s power and durability were impressive, as was the blade. There was also three speeds. These two features are what make this baby food blender different from the Babymoov Nutribaby (below), which can steam or blend simultaneously. Our favorite feature was the LED-lit interface. We found it intuitive and very easy to use. BPA and lead-free phthalate-free parts make cleaning up the blender and steamer easy. Why is it not #1? While it may be #1 next year or even in the future, it must stand up to time. The size of the unit is large so those with small or restricted kitchens might not find it appropriate for them. It’s about the same cost as the Beaba Babycook and is worth it if your kitchen has enough space. We highly recommend this baby food processor! Babymoov Duo is loved by many! Babylist and WhatToExpect both love it! Interested? You can check out this Babymoov Duo here 3. Evla’s Baby Food Maker.
This is a brand new product on the U.S. baby food market. This unit is small in footprint and has a smaller capacity. It’s ideal for small kitchens with smaller food batches and less mess. Simple simplicity is what makes it small. The 4-in1 baby food machine is actually a steamer and blender. It can also reheat or defrost. The convenience is not as great as the other ones on this list. The container is small at 300g and 2 cups. It’s the smallest among them all. Its look and feel, and functionality, are very similar to the Beaba Babycook, with a sleek and low-profile shape, and a large and easy to use button right up front and center. You can use it with one hand. Just turn the button and steam/blend, then press the button to launch. For more thorough cleaning, the blade and lid can be removed from the container. All components that come into contact with food are also BPA free and do not contain lead or phthalates. We also appreciated the quiet motor and the ease of refilling the water tank. It took up very little counter space in our already cramped kitchen. This baby food machine is fairly new to us. It was capable of performing in limited tests for approximately a week and is a strong competitor to this category. This is a small model, but it can be used if this is what you want. We’ll continue to use this model for the next six-to twelve months and will report on its reliability. If things go well, we expect it to climb higher up our priority list. This is a good option for around $90. The QOOC baby-food maker is a favorite of many. It’s a favorite pick of WhatToExpect and The Wirecutter. Interested? Check out this QOOC 4-in-1 Mini. Elechomes Baby Food Maker.
Bubos Baby Food Maker is another great newcomer to the market. The all-in one steamer/food processor came to us late last year. Our experience was great with the features, quality and affordability. You can use the Bubos to steam, cook, sterilize and blend. The bubo system came in a box and is quite difficult to work out. It has many parts, so we read through it several times, and then looked online for instructions on how to use it. After we had it figured out we were extremely impressed. This steaming method is flexible. It can hold up to three food levels. There are three sizes of stacking baskets. The bottom is the largest at 750mL, followed by the medium (350mL), while the top is the smallest at 150mL. The tower’s height makes it easy to fit bottles into sterilizer or warm-up/reheater when the baskets are placed on top of each other. You can use this as a steamer/bottle sterilizer/warmer. If you want a separate bottle warmer, check out our reviews of the best baby bottle warmers . After the sweet potatoes had been steamed for 15 minutes, we tried out the blender to create a tasty puree. The blade was very sharp and the process took less than one minute. The cleanup was straightforward. Also, you can easily put in the microwave the bowls, steaming baskets, and lids. Safety features include the automatic shut-off when the water level drops below a certain point. There is no BPA, lead or phthalates in this dishwasher, as well as FDA-approved food safety material for any parts that may come into contact with food. It’s an excellent product that we love and have used for several weeks. However, we won’t be pushing it higher on the list until the Bubos baby foodmaker proves its value over the long term. We found it for about $90 online, you can check out the Bubos baby food maker here 8. BEABA Babycook Neo Baby Food Maker.
This is the perfect baby food maker with its European-made styling and glass bowl. After testing it, we loved it! We loved it right out of the box. It’s high quality and looks great, is simple to put together, and easy for us to use. We steamed, pureed, and topped sweet potatoes and spinach with our first attempt. Everything turned out great. In addition to the basic steaming feature, you can also use a defrost and reheat function, both of which worked really well in our testing. The stainless steel puree/blend blade was sharp and efficient. It blended the entire food in the blender without leaving any pieces around the bowl’s edges. The glass baby food makers were quieter than the plastic ones. It is likely that glass has better insulation (sound, temperature) than plastic. Parents who worry about BPA/phthalates and other plastic chemicals leaching from foods when they steam are well served by glass. The stainless-steel steaming basket also eliminates the problem. Glass with plastic, like glass baby bottles can have some problems with fitment especially after repeated heating and dishwashing. The lid of the plastic bowl didn’t fit well after awhile, and the plastic handle became looser from the bowl. Although not major issues, it’s worth mentioning. The other issue is that when you rapidly heat glass there is a risk of breaking the glass, so when you put a bunch of frozen fruits or veggies in there and the glass cools down, and then you heat it with steam it heats up quickly and can crack. We didn’t experience this in our testing. However, Beaba had just completed recalling the first batch their Neo baby foodmakers due to broken glass bowls. The Neo Neos being shipped by Amazon use the updated glass bowl issued following the recall. The other big issue with this baby food maker is the price, coming in at a whopping $250, which we believe is ridiculous for a baby food maker, even if it uses glass and stainless steel instead of plastic! An offer of 150-175 dollars would seem more fair, considering other leading baby food manufacturers. This baby food maker is stylish and practical, yet it comes at a high price. Interested? Have you considered the Beaba Neo? Baby Brezza Glass 4-cup Food Maker.
Overall, this is a nice decent-capacity (4 cups, same as the Cuisinart, but smaller than the Beaba and Babymoov) unit that is easy and convenient to use and doesn’t take up a ton of space on the counter. These are great features! You have a single-button option to steam or blend. This means that you just fill the water reservoir, put the food in the bowl, cover it and then press the Steam + Blend button. About 10 minutes later and you’re ready to go with freshly steamed and pureed fruits and veggies. Separate buttons are available for steaming and blending. Another great feature of the water reservoir is its removable nature. It makes refilling and cleaning very easy. This feature was a great idea and set an example for others to emulate. It also has an easily-read and understood display which tells you the remaining time until you can enjoy your food. We received a lot of requests to review this model when it first appeared on the market. It is the only steamer/blender that can use a glass bowl. The plastic does not contain BPA, so you can worry less about what other chemicals might be in your baby’s food. The glass bowl eliminates the need to worry about this issue, making it an ideal addition for baby food manufacturers. The bowl and blade of the glass are both dishwasher-safe. It is a fantastic baby food-maker option, which you are sure to love. We have only one concern about this model. There are several reports that it is not reliable after just a few months. We happily used our test unit for over 6 months without any issues, but more recently we have encountered some seemingly random problems. Some issues include incorrect information appearing on the display and water leaching from the base. This is an excellent baby food maker. If it gets better over time, it may climb up the list. It’s usually under $150. Note that Baby Brezza also makes the famous Baby Brezza Formula Pro that can mix formula perfectly and put it right into your favorite baby bottles. Is there anyone else who thinks that the Baby Brezza food machine is great? Babylist, Babygearlab, and other Babylist friends call it a great choice! Interested? Are you interested? Nutribullet magic bullet baby care system.
Baby Bullet was one the very first blenders that targeted new parents. To make it stand out, the baby blender has a smiley face. The Magic Bullet evolved to be called the NutriBullet. It has made some improvements over time. Nutribullet baby foods maker is adorable with the baby blue and light pink plastics. The smiley faces are on the sides of clear plastic bowls. These little cups, which are just the right size for freezing, fit perfectly into the silicone storage holder. NutriBullet comes in a box that we love! You’ll love the NutriBullet! It blends softened steam-softened fruit and vegetables with its 200-watt motor and sharp blade. The NutriBullet is less efficient than its stronger counterparts when it comes to steamed foods like broccoli and other grittier items. Critically, the NutriBullet does NOT provide any steam capability. It is not possible to steam vegetables and fruits with this unit. We think that this is the biggest drawback of this system. Add to that major concern about the reliability and quality of the rubber seals as well as the motor, and the deal is sealed. While we had no issues with the NutriBullet’s short-term testing, parents have shared their concerns about the NutriBullet over the past 6-10 months. They have discovered that the rubber seals can fail and even penetrate the food. It is a popular pick among Babylist and Wirecutter, though it is not clear if they actually tested it. We recommend looking into an all-in one steamer/blender that does not have such reliability problems. Interested? The NutriBullet baby foods maker can be found here. Cuisinart BFM1000Baby Food Maker.
Storage and Portability
How do you use all of the great food you have been steaming, puréeing, and blending? Don’t overfill those baby bottles. It will cause a lot of mess. Parents often freeze food and then remove it as necessary. There is another method that’s becoming more popular. Do you remember those cute little pouches with baby food that are easy to squeeze? Plum Organics’ popular pouches of baby food?
You could even make these at home. Infantino now has a new squeeze station that makes this possible. Your toddler will be able to take over the cooking and the pouches won’t need to be washed. If you are interested in learning more about this option, click the photo to the right.
