The thicker, more lightweight sleeping mattress found in travel cribs rests on the flooring and not on a frame. Its simplicity, portability and washable sides made it my favourite travel crib out of the many I tried.
The Lotus has a lot of room to play and sleep. Because the legs extend a little, the crib occupies approximately 10 square feet of space on the floor. Because the mattress sits on the floor, there’s no weight limit and the Lotus can be used until baby is attempting to climb out. This mattress was more comfortable that the playpen mattresses but is safe enough to use as a baby bed.
A zippered opening on the sides makes it easy to access baby’s room. Made with an aluminum frame, polyester mesh sides, and a foam mattress with a base plate, the Lotus is Greenguard certified to be free from heavy metals, formaldehyde, and PVC. Both the cover for the mattress and the sides of the mesh are machine washable (air-dry only) which makes them ideal for diaper blowouts. Baby food easily wiped off the mattress, and the mesh sides came out of the wash unstained.
It is a simple design for the Lotus frame: First, unfold the legs, and then expand the top frame with a quick pull. Next, insert the mattress. Folding can be a little more difficult. While I did need to follow the directions the first time, it was easy.
It measures 24 inches in length. I could simultaneously carry the Lotus, my baby, and another item, something I couldn’t with the other playpens.

Graco Travel Dome ‘n Play Travel Dome X Playard – I loved this Travel Dome, that was included with the Pack ’n Play. This Travel Dome would have been ideal for infant naps. Although it was easier to setup the Pack n Play, I had trouble getting the changing area fully assembled.
