Walmart is Superstore.

Is Cloud 9 Real?
Cloud 9 is a fictional chain of retail stores. It was featured as a hypermarket on the TV show Superstore. It’s not real. However, it has many similarities with real large-box chains.
Cloud 9 corporate, according to Superstore Wiki Page, is based out of Chicago. However they have locations throughout the world.
These are not the real employment conditions. The employees don’t get overtime or maternity leave.
Only one shift per employee at Cloud9 can use the restroom, while employees only get 15 minutes to eat lunch.
Much like some real-life corporate offices, the main HQ controls all the locks, lights, music, and temperatures for individual stores.
Like Walmart’s Great Value, Cloud 9 has a store brand: originally it was Halo, but later it got changed to SuperCloud.
Is Superstore A Parody Of Walmart?
Superstore, if we believe Oxford Languages as true then it is an imitation of Walmart.
However, the real Walmart probably gives Superstore a run for its money in the exaggeration department.
Look at these real-life stories from Walmart employees about some of the craziness they have witnessed.
Sometimes, life can be even more amazing than fiction.
Walmart Superstore Author:
It doesn’t seem that Walmart writers and producers were actually employed by them, but they did work with OUR Walmart.
OUR Walmart is now called United4Respect. It’s a labor advocacy non-profit that advocates for greater equity and equality in retail employment.
Composed of both former and current employees, it’s no wonder OUR Walmart/United4Respect was able to help the creators at Superstore portray ultra-realistic scenarios.
Does Superstore have a real store?
Showbiz Cheatsheet states that the actors sometimes mistook employees for employees. This led to them being asked multiple times where particular items were.
Following the success of the first season, producers probably received a larger budget and filming was moved to Universal Studios, California (on a three story soundstage).
Walmart Supercenters average 182,000 sq. feet. But, obviously, it wasn’t that big.
To give it the appearance of an enormous building, they set up around 22,000 sq. feet. The illusion is that the store can stretch for much more.
Checkout registers, scanners, and other items are authentic and repurposed from Ralph’s and Fresh & Easy.
Are The Products in Superstore Real?
Superstore is a great place to shop, as you’ll see many well-known brands.
Superstore signed clearance deals with these brands (e.g. Keurig) enabling them to list their names on the screen.
In fact, some commenters on a Quora thread believe the brands might have even paid Superstore for the product placement.
Cloud 9 offers a variety of brand-name items to make it feel like the pieces are more genuine.
Cloud 9 only enhances the unnerving familiarity compared to actual Walmart locations.
Walmart can be found on Wayfair.com. You will also find information regarding whether Walmart operates a tax-exempt program and how Walmart handles VSP/EyeMed.
Cloud 9 and Superstore’s employees feel like they are taking on Walmart. However, none of their creators has made any official statements confirming this.
It’s a wise decision, I believe, as Superstore speaks to all retail workers, no matter if they work at Walmart, Target, or any other departmental store.
