A lot of grocery and retail shops offer many perks to their employees such as employee discounts, holiday pay, healthcare benefits and gym memberships.
Safeway employees get a discount of 10% on brand-name products and a 5% discount for other brands. This offer is valid until 2022. Safeway employees who have not completed their probation must possess an AirMiles card that can be used at cash check to get an employee discount.
What do Safeway Employees need to use the Discount?
To be eligible for the Safeway employee discount, employees need to have these two items.
First, all staff members must complete their probation period before they qualify for a discount. Safeway’s probation period lasts 3 months.
Safeway employees will also have to obtain an Air Miles certificate after their probation.
The card can be swiped at checkout to get the discount.
Without an Air Miles card, Safeway staff cannot access their employee discount.
Safeway employees need to register their Air Miles card number in Employee Self Service (ESS), on the Albertsons/Sobeys employee portal.
Can Safeway Employees Share Their Discount?
Safeway employees have the right to share their discount with anyone in their immediate family.
As long as an Air Miles Card is linked to the Sobeys portal, both the employee and the relative can use the discount.
Can Safeway Employees Use Their Discount in Every Department?
Safeway employees have the ability to take discounts on almost all items and departments.
However, not all products qualify for a discount. These items are listed below:
Not all items are available at discounted prices. This includes third-party vendor items.
Employees at Safeway as well as potential employees are advised to consult their store manager on which products can be considered minimum price regulatory items, in-store exceptions, third-party selling items and other items.

Albertsons/Sobeys now own Safeway. This means that employees may use their Safeway discount in select Albertsons Companies shops.
