Evans could be trading in that chunky cable knit for a leather jacket and some scrubs. EW learns that Evans was in discussions to take the part of Orin Scrivello, also known as “The Dentist”, in a film adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors. The project is being directed by Greg Berlanti.
The role was played by Steve Martin in the movie from 1986, an adaptation of the Off Broadway musical. It is based on the 1960 Roger Corman film.
Musicalized by beloved Disney duo Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, Little Shop follows nebbish plant store clerk Seymour, who finds his life turned upside down when he cultivates a carnivorous plant that craves blood and human flesh. Seymour is thrown into an unimaginable spiral of death when Audrey II, a plant that craves blood and human flesh, gives him hope. Audrey will also help Seymour escape Orin Scrivello’s abusive ways.

The Hollywood Reporter is the first news source to mention Evans’ involvement. Taron Emerton and Scarlett Johansson both have ongoing discussions about portraying Audrey and Seymour. THR also reports that Billy Porter has signed on to voice Audrey II.
Evans later confirmed the report further by tweeting THR’s article with the caption “Tooth Emoji” and an exclamation mark.
Fans of Evans will note that he’s discussed appearing in a musical for some time. According to a March 2019 Hollywood Reporter profile, Evans discussed how he grew up in musical theatre. He even expressed an interest in being the Dentist for this Little Shop version. He said, “I really wanted to sing a musical.” When someone told me that Little Shop of Horrors was being [remade], I was shocked. Please? Do you want to be a dentist? ‘” he said.
Ironically, Evans’ father is a dentist himself.

Chris Evans posted a tweet from The Hollywood Reporter stating that he has been in talks with the Hollywood Reporter to take on the role of sadistic dentist in the movie ‘Little Shop of Horrors.

While I am not certain if you selected your roles with particular sensibility to the mid-2000s traumas of one South Shields teenage girl, North East England, but it is clear that you are making a serious mistake by accepting the role of the dentist for the Little Shop of Horrors adaptation. This makes it seem like you have no idea that the teenage girl who fainted in “Suddenly Seymour,” a show by another actor, has remained etched on Little Shop of Horrors’ collective memory. You don’t seem to have considered the fact that the adult version of that teenage girl has been compelled by her parents to see everything you wear and will then be forced back to that horrible moment at the theater with thousands of others.
In the unlikely event that anyone but Chris Evans himself is reading this article, allow me to give you some context: On Monday, the Hollywood Reporter claimed that Evans was in talks to play the sadistic, abusive dentist Orin Scrivello in the upcoming adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors, the role played by Steve Martin in the 1986 movie. Evans then tweeted the article adding a tooth emoticon to make it more concrete. This would indicate that Evans has secured the role.
Evans stated that Evans was interested in the remake in 2019. He told The Hollywood Reporter in 2019: “I want to perform a musical so desperately, man.” A person told me that Little Shop of Horrors was being remade and I was in shock. Please? Could I please be the dentist?” According to Hollywood Reporter, Billy Porter already has signed up to portray Audrey II the carnivorous plant. Taron Egerton, Scarlett Johansson, and Seymour are also “in discussions” for Audrey. Fine, I will accept it: This adaptation sounds bloody good and I will probably see it in theaters more than once. Chris, this will be difficult! It’s going to be painful for you, Chris.

I have been going to Angel Care Dental since I was a young child… so quite a while 😉 and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The facility is beautiful, the care and gentle touch mean everything to me because I don’t like going to the dentist – who does? But it’s different here and I leave feeling genuinely happy. Mihaela is the BEST hygienist and Dr Galo is kind and extremely gentle. Even a root canal isn’t half bad with Dr Galo! Dr Soraya is also wonderful! Thanks Angel Care. ☺️ – Tara H
