You have so many options!

Since its creation, Lectric XP was one of my most favorite budget electric bikes. The Lectric XP 2.0 takes the best bits of this bike and makes it even more enjoyable.

Still, you get powerful motor that produces 500W continuous power and 850W peak speed.

While the speed limit is 28 mph (45 km/h), you can still enjoy a high top speed. However, it comes with a Class 2 speed mode that allows 20 mph (30 km/h). Simple adjustments to the control pad on the handlebars can open up Class 3 speeds and enable you to adjust your top speed.

It’s still possible to fold the frame so you can take a fat bike with you on adventures faraway.

Lectric XP 2.0 allows you to do so much more than just what is the same.

Most obvious upgrade to the bike is its suspension fork. I mentioned in my first review how I accepted the absence of suspension on this bike. Low-cost e-bikes with suspension often opt for very-cheap springs that are susceptible to failure after one or two years. I was concerned when the Lectric Ebikes Team first informed me of the Lectric XP2.0. They explained that they had decided to use a hydraulic oil suspension fork to improve the bike’s performance. A bit more investment allowed them to provide the fork with the stability and suspension they wanted.

You won’t be able to ride down the steps like you’re floating on clouds. But it does provide enough travel for trails and rough streets. You will have more fun off the beaten path adventures with your new suspension fork.

With its large frames and heavy tires, the LectricXP 2.0 was a landmark in fat-tire folding ebikes. This new model features slightly smaller tires. The original 20″ x 4″ tires were replaced by a pair of 20″ x 3 “CST tires. They have a more manageable tread profile and a 20×3” size. It offers a significantly improved riding experience.

New tires can be paired with new front suspension forks to provide an excellent ride. However, their small diameter and lighter weight allow for the bike to handle better than it did before. Lectric eBikes were able to minimize their shipping footprint using smaller tires.

Up top, wider handlebars feel more natural and provide better control of the bike without creating a larger folded footprint, at 67 x 18 x 47 inches. With the vast vertical adjustment available on the seat and integrated vertical height adjustment in the handlebars of the XP, it is easy to setup the bike quickly for a range of sizes.

It is technically a folding bike but its heavy weight of 63 pounds makes it awkward to transport when folded. It’s fine to use for occasional storage, in an RV lock box or on a shelf in the garage for example, but don’t expect to be hefting its folded form into the trunk for your daily ride on the beach. It’s easier to store the folded handlebars in your car. After attempting to fit the fully folded bike into the trunk of my Tesla Model 3, I found the handlebar-down bike much easier to manage and quickly had it stowed in the car (seats down).

A 7-speed cassette, and derailleur are available to help you get the best out of your bike. You can also search for the ideal balance between pedal assistance and output from your legs. We found that the Lectric XP2.0 is a pleasure to ride all around town. The rear hub motor produces 500 watts continuous power, and peak power can reach 800 watts. This allows us to climb the most difficult sections of the review route.

Although the 9.6 Ah battery is smaller than other electric bikes, it contributes to the bike’s lower cost. Although you may still be able get the recommended 45 mile range by riding around flattest areas of the city on assist level 1, it’s much more enjoyable to turn the engine up and go wild. Lectric’s extra battery packs are available at a price that seems reasonable, starting at $299.

The display of the XP 2.0 uses the same gray-scale display as the original. It is easy to see in any lighting condition.

Accessories

Lectric eBikes have a lot of power right out of their box. Lectric 2.o introduced a range of accessories that extends their functionality. The XP2.0 is now a sports utility vehicle that can fit on either the front or rear rack.

Lectric’s CargoPack was sent with our review bicycle. We quickly used it. For a simple bag of groceries, or even a jacket and backpack, the front basket can be used. The larger basket, which we mounted to the included rear rack, is great for a few bags of groceries or equivalently sized cargo. With a total carrying capacity of 330 pounds, the Lectric eBikes XP 2.0 is an absolute workhorse and can take just about whatever you can throw at it.

Comfort is elevated to the next level thanks to an ultra plush saddle and a new suspension post. The Comfort Pack was available to test on the Lectric XP2.0 Step-Thru prototype. We found it extremely comfortable.

My ebikes have a suspension seatpost and a plush seat. A tip is to verify the diameter of your original seat post before you order a replacement, even if it comes directly from Lectric. Lectric’s accessories are available in packages that allow you to purchase the exact gear you want for your ride.

Lectric eBikesXP 2.0 offers a great deal of value for a very affordable price. This bike can support up to 33 pounds, thanks to its front suspension and rear rack. The new features and optional accessories pave the way for the XP 2.0 to continue to find a place in thousands of homes, RVs, and boats around the world.
