To make it more portable, travel cribs use a thicker sleeping bed that is laid on the floor rather than on a wooden frame. My favorite travel crib was the Guava Lotus. Its easy setup, cleanable sides and comfy mattress made it stand out from other options.
The Lotus provides ample room for both sleep and playing. Since the legs of the crib extend just a couple inches, it occupies roughly 10 square foot of ground space. It is easy to use until your baby starts climbing out, as the Lotus does not limit weight. It is firm enough for newborns, yet feels more comfortable than other playpen mattresses.
As an alternate way of getting baby out and in, the sides have a zippered door. A Lotus Mattress is Greenguard Certified to be Free from Heavy Metals, Formaldehyde and PVC. Both the mattress cover, as well the mesh sides, can be machine washed and dried in the air. This is an important feature for diaper blowouts. Baby food easily wiped off the mattress, and the mesh sides came out of the wash unstained.
