However, if you get up in the morning, have oral sex with your partner, then go to work, walk around the office, and let your mouth open, it might not be difficult for the dentist to determine what you’ve been up to.
The potentially disturbing revelation is from where most information comes these days: TikTok. There, various dental experts posted video clips confirming the rumor about dentists being able to determine if your teeth have been affected by a specific sex organ.
Huzefa Kaadia uploaded a video that shows how dentists are able to tell when a patient is having oral sex. The palatal petechiae refers to the hard-palate bruising, which can be caused by frequent, aggressive or intense oral sex. Kapadia stated that while it seems unlikely that a patient would experience the sign after just one session, if a patient is addicted to chewing gum, he said, it could be a warning sign.

“Yeah…we know.” Blowing the minds of nearly 42.7 million TikTok watchers , Kapadia, a dentistry practitioner in Michigan, provided professional lip service about dentists and oral sex after fellow TikToker @CianMcBrien announced the fellatio fun fact in a separate post.
“Just found out the dentist can find out [whether] someone has given [oral sex] or not,” McBrien captioned a video in early February. The brain-bending claim has seen McBrien covering his mouth, in shock.
Kapadia produced a video that explained how dentists can determine the details of an individual’s oral hygiene.

According to reports from the 1920s fellatio can sometimes leave visible marks, or lesion usually round spots, that result in bleeding known at petechiae. However, it doesn’t necessarily make the act more common. Additionally, dental professionals are able to regularly determine if you’ve performed or not the act.
In the French Journal of Venereal Diseases, there was the first reported case of fellatio induced mouth lesion. Recalling this case in 2017, the 2017 paper said the paper stood out for being the first. However, it also featured the excitement with which the corresponding doctor explained the case. This involved a female sex worker with an unusually strong work ethic. As described in that 2017 paper and translated from French, the doctor described this patient as a “conscientious partner” who “had attached herself to work like an octopus to its prey.” The TikTok video highlights a case report from 2018 that describes a 47-year-old-man with a lesion discovered during a dental exam:
We found an erythematous circular-shaped lesion in the soft palate of the patient while examining his oral cavity. Asymptomatic, the patient did not know about the lesion. The patient confessed to having been sexually active with males. He was also involved in oral sex. The last time he did this was 3 days before the visit. Based on this, the diagnosis of the erythema that appeared on his soft palate was made.
You can find many such case reports in the scientific literature. An analysis of literature related to fellatio and oral lesions in 2013 revealed that more than one mechanism is possible. In that 2013 paper, the authors stated that “direct and forceful contact by the distal penis to the palate might result in mucosal injuries with ruptured submucosal veins and hemorhage.” According to the paper from 2018, another possible cause is “the negative pressure caused by sucking,” which may also lead to tissue destruction in the mouth.
Although this is a very rare area of research, it is possible that many or all fellatio-related lesions are caused by the procedure. The 2018 study shown in the TikTok video cited a thesis study conducted on Peruvian sex workers that aimed to screen “for the presence and frequency of fellatio-related lesions.” That work found that out of 132, ” only 17 sex workers had fellatio-related lesions … while the rest did not have any type of injury.” In any event, lesions created during fellatio are, in most cases , asymptomatic and only detected later during a dental examination or while the person is brushing their teeth. The majority of these lesions resolve on their own. These cases are not meant to be a warning to dentists that they can tell you everything about your sexual life. However, it is a reminder that a possible oral sex injury could occur if someone has a mysterious mouth condition. One 2013 case report suggested that those in the head and neck medical field should look into fellatio in addition to differential aetiology in intraoral petechiae. The idea that dentists could tell whether you’ve had recent oral sex is incorrect. When a patient’s medical and sexual history is combined with clinical observations, a dentist could diagnose fellatio. A dentist could diagnose fellatio-related injuries if they combine clinical observations with the patients’ sexual and medical histories.

I have been going to Angel Care Dental since I was a young child… so quite a while 😉 and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
