More Articles Going to the dentist regularly is super important! And yet, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 35.1% of adults and 15.1% of children in the U.S.

Aren’t seeing a dentist frequently. It’s an impressive percentage, we think.

Perhaps you are thinking “I already brush my teeth, I floss and so why should I visit the dentist?” What actually does a dentist do? The truth is that brushing and flossing aren’t enough! Beyond good oral hygiene, regular dental examinations prevent most dental diseases. If you are curious what you can expect at the dentist’s office for a checkup we have you covered. Below are some of the things that happen at the dentist. (We’ll go into more detail about each): Dental x-rays; oral exams; cancer screenings; scaling and polishing; fluoride sealants and home oral care.

During a routine checkup, a dental hygienist or dentist will examine your mouth and teeth and look for basic oral hygiene. They will look for areas that need attention and recommend the best treatment.

Dental Hygienists and dentists will examine your teeth for signs of decay. The hygienist will also check to make sure that no tooth enamel is missing. Why? Because they want to keep cavities away!

Gum exam: A dentist or dental hygiene professional will check the health of your gums. This is done to assess if you have gum disease.

Bite evaluation: Your dentist or dental hygienist will also evaluate your bite and look for any red flags to protect your dental health.

For children, a dentist or dental hygiene professional will check the teeth’s development. If necessary, they can make referrals to an orthodontist.

Routine dental radiographs are often taken during checkup visits. These X-rays are very useful because they reveal any cavities in your teeth. These can also provide details about the height and health of supporting bones around your teeth. A dentist may also be shown the positions of child-developing teeth.

There are many kinds of dental Xrays. For you to have the right information about your smile, your dentist will recommend which X rays should be taken. FYI: Dental hygienists often take X-rays.

I have been going to this place for the last 5 years. I have had many problems. They took care of them. The customer service, care, guidance and treatment I have got have been always extraordinary. Everyone is professional and dedicated to deliver the best. I am sorry, I don’t remember all the names of the wonderful staff. Some of the names of the wonderful team members I remember I would like to mention like : Dr. Bains, Alex, Anna and Rupa. A big thank you for all the years for the amazing service🙏 Keep up the great work. You all are amazing! – RIGHT PATH LEARNING
I have been going to Angel Care Dental since I was a young child… so quite a while 😉 and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The facility is beautiful, the care and gentle touch mean everything to me because I don’t like going to the dentist – who does? But it’s different here and I leave feeling genuinely happy. Mihaela is the BEST hygienist and Dr Galo is kind and extremely gentle. Even a root canal isn’t half bad with Dr Galo! Dr Soraya is also wonderful! Thanks Angel Care. ☺️ – Tara H
