The recent influx of fried chicken joints has left many EBT card owners wondering whether KFC takes EBT or not because cooking can sometimes seem like an extra struggle to people already disadvantaged.
What will KFC do with EBT?
EBT can be used to purchase meals at KFC in all states participating in the Restaurant Meals Program (RMP). This is effective as of 2022. KFC can provide affordable meals for those with low income who cannot prepare their own meals, such as people living with disability, old age or without stable housing.
Some of the states that participate in the Restaurant Meal Program and accept the EBT include California, Rhode Island, Illinois, Michigan, and Arizona.
For a state, however, to allow EBT for residents of its citizens, it must comply with federal regulations.
Additionally, states will need to prove that they have the ability and capability of properly operating EBT, with all applicable rules and procedure, such as any text or communication.
These criteria correspond with the eligibility requirements of Temporary Assistance For Needy Families (TANF), a financial assistance program that helps financially disadvantaged families.
As such, a recipient of federal benefits under TANF must also qualify for cash benefits through EBT programs, regardless if the state they live in has its own system.

What Can You Purchase At KFC With EBT?
EBT cards allow you to buy KFC’s tasty foods but not all. EBT cardholders may be eligible for the following:
