Casper was not the first to invent the bed-in a box idea. However, social media helped the sleep retailer to quickly rise to prominence as one of the top brands. Casper has expanded to include mattresses for humans and a stylish dog bed. Casper mattresses were a staple in my life, and I knew that Casper was a good choice for me.
Casper Dog Bed came in the same packaging as other mattresses. It was vacuum sealed, rolled up and placed inside a cardboard box. Of course, it was a much smaller box, and it was a lot lighter; I could pull it out of the box by myself. Once I removed it, the plastic wrap was easily cut and the parts began to expand. Although I expected one dog bed that was intact, it needs to be assembled with five components. The mattress and four foam bolsters are required. The package also contained a cover for the mattress and a toy dog.
The Spruce Pets / Lindsay Boyers After five minutes, all of the pieces had expanded, and I began assembly. Two zippered sections make up the mattress cover. You can fit one section onto the main mattress. A second zipper runs around the edges of all the bolsters. Zipping the mattress in position was straightforward. It took some fiddling to insert the bolsters. The zipper was difficult to close because it was so tight. The parts continued to grow and become more symmetrical.
Lindsay Boyers/The Spruce Pets. The Casper Dog Bed doesn’t stand out in decor, but its looks are enough. This bed looks better than any other dog beds that I have owned. The memory foam mattress looks similar to this one, with the bolstered edge edges. You can choose from three different colors: gray, blue or a lighter tan. Each color is neutral and should be coordinated with your existing home decor. Gray was my choice. It blended nicely with my gray and navy-themed bedroom.
You can machine wash the removable cover. It was as good as new when I put it in the washer in cold water and tumble dried it on low.

It puffed up right after I took the bed out of its bag. I found the medium to be true to size. It was big enough for two medium-sized dogs or, in my case, one small dog. When I covered the bed, both dogs were very interested.
The Casper bed was modern and stylish. Its gray color is easy to match any decor and the height wasn’t too high for dogs. It was a great bed for my dogs. I also added a fluffy blanket over it. My dogs seem to like beds made of plush materials more than the Casper bed’s cover.
The bed is well made, the design is attractive, and it was used by my dogs. With time, I noticed that my dogs preferred other bed options in my house. This is because the Casper’s lip, or edge of the Casper, was very narrow. My dogs prefer to place their heads on the dog bed edge.

There’s part of me that questions why I even bother buying pet beds for my two fur babies. After all, nine times out of 10, they opt to sleep on my bed or the couch. The Casper bed was purchased by me because I love to pamper my cats and dogs. Its design is thoughtful, and even though the price will probably make you cringe, I’d buy another one in a heartbeat.
What is the Casper Dog Bed?

The Casper dog bed is basically the Ferrari of dog beds. This dog bed is the result of the same design team that created its signature box mattress. But, Casper claims they did extensive research on dogs. This is the final result. This dog bed is made of a mixture of memory foam that relieves pressure and dense foam. The cover, which is tightly knit microfiber, has a tight weave and supports all sizes. You can even see the excess material in the cover to replicate how your dog would paw at dirt when it scratches.

What Size Do You Need?
There are three sizes to choose from when purchasing the Casper dog bed.

My golden retriever Addy (50 pounds) needed a larger bed so I bought one. However, it is way too big. My boyfriend and I could comfortably curl up together in this bed. It’s not too big for her, although it is quite large at 45×35 inches.

Casper recommends that you follow their sizing guidelines and not just buy the same size as your pet. Casper recommends the small size for cats and small dogs under 30 pounds. The medium bed is for larger dogs over 60 pounds and large for large dogs above 90 pounds. However, it’s worth mentioning that the large can be used by both a man and a dog up to 50 pounds.
It is well made and lasts a long time

According to Casper the extra fabric in this bed allows your dog to feel as if they are “pawing at loose soil.” A common issue I see with pet beds is the fact that they aren’t durable. Cheap beds can become lumpy and brittle after a while, especially since Addy is not a gentle dog. The cover material can also become brittle after being washed.
On the other hand, we’ve had the Casper dog bed for a year now, and it looks and feels as good as the day we got it. The bed is used by Addy to dig into it before she settles down. She also chews on the bones. The cover is still in good condition.
Plus, the foam that makes up the bed hasn’t shown any signs of deterioration, and there aren’t any lumps or bumps. You can tell that the bed is made from top-tier materials, which helps to justify its high price.
We’ve discovered the only downside

Casper is my favorite dog bed. But there is one problem I dislike about it. Even though my dearest Addy is very much potty trained, she decided to pee on the Casper Bed the day we got it. I don’t know if she was marking her territory with her actions or just being silly, but this “accidental” revealed one flaw in the Casper Bed: It’s not waterproof.
It is so tightly knitted that liquids may take time to soak into it. However, liquids will eventually seep in the foam below. Memory foam is known for being difficult to clean. I’m grateful I saw Addy doing it and managed to get the cover off before urine got in.
The bed isn’t recommended for pets or dogs with prone to accidents. You can machine wash the cover, however the inner foam might get damaged from accidents that occur while you’re away.

When you walk into Target’s pet section, there is a lot of sticker shock. Many boutique pet shops sell dogs beds from $20 to $80. It was my own hesitation. Like I said, adding all my money spent on dog bedding for my cat, this medium-sized bed was only pennies. But Casper’s 100-night guarantee makes it a far better choice. It’s built solidly and is easy for me to wash (the tough cover is machine washable! Casper’s memory foam Casper will maintain its shape for the long-term. The thing has unique features such as hidden zippers in pockets, heat-bonded seams to keep fur out of the cover and heat-bonded seams which allow for long life.
Casper is known for its excellent customer service. Casper Dog Bed can be ordered quickly online. You also have the option to call the customer service number. It’s worth it. They are friendly, caring, and really want to make your dog happy. When it’s delivered, you’ll feel like it’s Christmas, and though I may be spoiling a little surprise, the cute dog toy they send is just one more way Casper shows it’s thinking of you and your dog.
I’m one of those people who researches the heck out of everything I buy (particularly when I am spending $150 on a dog bed) and I typically pay attention to the one- and two-star reviews more than the five-stars that sometimes tend to make me wonder if they’re Autobot reviews. These are not the most common issues people have. It’s likely that Casper was meticulous about the details and built the bed. Also, they provide excellent customer care. With the promise that I would love it for three months and that I can return it to them, this is what attracted me.
While Casper’s dog beds are a great investment, you can see why this expensive pet bed might not be within your means. You don’t have to be a pawrent to your pet, but a limited budget does not mean that you can’t love them enough. There are alternatives available, which will allow you pamper your dog without breaking the bank. These beds may not last as long and be as well-designed as Casper, but they are affordable alternatives that will still work. You can save some money to buy the right gift for your furbaby for Christmas or birthday.
