4. Pay attention to potential side-effects
Online Huel forums contain threads of people complaining about stomach pains, flatulence, and heartburn, mixed with positive reviews of clearer skin and even, fewer hangovers.
To fulfil the recommended 2000 kcal daily food intake in Huel alone, you’d have to intake of 2.3 litres of the nutritionally-enhanced fluid. According to the dietitian, drinking that much product would result in “high levels” of dietary fiber (38.3g). If an individual is not used to consuming so much fibre in their daily diet, Helen notes that “stomach pains and flatulence could be an issue”.
It is best to not use this product often or gradually increase your daily intake over the course of a few days.

Huel, although released in 2015, didn’t really become a major player until Version 2.0 in 2017. I came across Version 2.2 in 2018 because it was advertised so much. Mostly via my social media channels. It was hard to ignore.
The overwhelming number of positive reviews for this food from long-term and new customers was hard to ignore.
This product was touted as an all natural, one-stop solution for those who struggle to maintain healthy eating habits in the fast-paced world that we live in. It was also advertised as a great way to lose weight in a slow and safe way.
Sometimes, however, something is too good to be true if it sounds too good.
Conclusion
Huel was my first drink around two years back. I always have it in my cabinet. It wasn’t helpful during my weight reduction journey. However, it helps me get at least one good-for-you meal in my daily life.
It is currently my breakfast option. Because I don’t have the time or energy to make good breakfasts, it is a waste of my morning. I would usually have some biscuits with my coffee, or a microwavable burger.
Huel helps me make my own and shake it before I go to bed. You can keep it in your fridge overnight. The next day, you take it to work and drink it at the desk or on the train.

There are many meals replacements that I have tried. Huel’s is my favorite. You can use it to improve your diet. If it doesn’t work out, there is no reason to buy another one.

I first learned about Huel in 2017 after researching and testing a variety of meal replacement shakes for Reviews.com . While many of the products I taste-tested were both delicious and nutritious, there was something different about Huel. It tasted like food, not like something you consumed instead of food. My draft had been turned in, so I quickly signed up for my Huel month subscription.
Currently, I pay $139.50 every five weeks for five bags of Huel (three chocolate flavor, two vanilla flavor) that I can then turn into shakes. Each bag includes 1,700 grams of Huel; 100 grams provides at least 20 percent of your recommended daily allowance of all necessary vitamins and minerals plus 58 percent of your recommended protein intake, 15 percent of your carbs, 16 percent of your fat, and 32 percent of your fiber, and clocks in at 400 calories. When I get home from work, I take out two Huel shakers containing 150g Huel. 500ml water is added. After overnight chilling, the Huel mixture thickens and I am ready to go with two Huel meal plans that are 600 calories. Each meal, if I’ve done the math correctly, costs $2.49.

Huel stands for Human Fuel. This review will focus on the UK’s fastest expanding meal replacement brand. Huel was founded on the mission to “make nutritionally complete and convenient food that is affordable and without any impact on animals and the environment” and their products are both vegan and vegetarian-friendly.
The products are packaged in small quantities, come in limited amounts and last a very long time. These products provide nutritious meals that are easy to prepare. On top of all of them stands Huel Powder, their best-selling meal replacement with over 60 millions meals sold.

Huel has a stellar brand and sells an incredible product at a low price. While they sell many food items (RTD, powder and bars …);), Huel Powder has been their most successful.
Its nutritional value is one of the strongest points. As well as being, nutritionally complete. In fact, I would say that it’s one of the industry referents when it comes to complete food nutrition.
However, I find the texture and taste to be the least appealing aspects. The Huel shakes are extremely thick and food-like. They also taste quite neutral. Huel shakes tend to have an earthy flavor and are not sweetened. This is actually why so many people seek out other meals.
Huel may be the perfect meal replacement, affordable, delicious, healthy, versatile, and always being improved upon.
Huel Products – A Quick Look
Huel provides a large variety of products in different formats and sizes. Huel offers two powdered meals replacements, Huel Powder and Huel Black.
On top of that, they offer Huel Ready-to-Drink, an already made alternative to powder; and, a meal replacement bar.
Huel Hot & Savoury – a complete meal that is more like a meal, and can also be purchased. It replaces the Huel Granola which is a replacement for breakfast meals. They can also make up to 11 flavour boosters that will enhance the Huel powders.
All Huel products are soy free, vegan and offer a gluten free option . But, that is something I’ll discuss in greater detail in my nutrition section. Let’s review Huel and see what products they offer.
Final Thoughts
Huel really is my favourite dog. Huel has truly spoiled me. Pre-made shakes are a great way to take to work so that I do not have to worry about making breakfast and lunch choices. I don’t replace every day, but I do use Huel for meals once a day a few times a week.
I’m not thrilled that the flavored versions of Huel have fake sweetener in them, but I like the shakes so much that I’ve been drinking them anyway. But once I go through the samples that were sent to me to review, I plan to buy the unsweetened/unflavored version of the powder and use it to make my own shakes. The powder is customizable so you can make your own meal.
Huel may be an option if you need to grab fast food in an emergency.
Huel’s Chocolate flavor ready to drink shakes came my way. One word: YUM! Because I am a big fan of chocolate, I was sure to like this flavor. The new bottled chocolate shakes are smoother and more consistent than their vanilla or berry-flavored counterparts. Though the chocolate taste is not overwhelming, I find it to have enough flavor. It is my preferred Huel flavor.
Huel remains my preferred brand of meal substitute shakes, both in terms of flavor and ease due to RTD bottles. I could live comfortably on this stuff. It’s good enough for at most one to two meals daily.

Huel’s Complete Protein adds a slight twist to the formula. This protein powder provides 105kcal and 20g proteins, and also has 26 vitamins and minerals. This snack is nutritionally complete and contains all necessary nutrients.

Opinion
Huel Complete Protein was my first review. I was not sure what to expect. Huel is an excellent complete food brand. However, their specialty is nutrition and not taste; and this second is key for a good protein powder.
Huel was the first to offer protein powder. It has completely blown my mind. This powder isn’t extraordinary, but it has the best of all worlds.
The claim that they are nutritionally complete may be a bit weak and not something many protein drinkers would pay much attention to. Even though I have had many protein shakes, I never really cared about whether they contained micronutrients.
Huel Complete Protein has a unique product that I find remarkable, despite some marketing missteps.
How to Use Huel
Huel can be used in a number of ways and for many it is a meal replacement option for either weight loss or for convenience.
The Huel Powder can be made into a shake and swapped in for breakfast, lunch or dinner as can the Huel Hot & Savoury rehydrated meals.
The number of meals replaced is left up to the consumer – some people replace all their meals and add snacks in the way of the protein shakes and bars, while others may choose to swap breakfast and lunch and have a normal meal at dinner.

So I was eager to see this section of the review. These are the most delicious vegan protein shakes that I’ve ever tried.
The four flavors I received were Vanilla Fudge (from Banana Milkshake to Strawberries & Cream), Banana milkshake and Chocolate Fudge Brownie. All of them tasted great and have a non-chalky, creamy texture which makes them very drinkable.
Banana Milkshake flavors are a highlight for their taste. They actually taste just like milkshakes.
