Differences Between Sizes And Variants

We tried the Samsung 7 Series’ 55″ variant (UN55TU7000FXZA). However, for most of our tests, the review is valid for all sizes. Samsung TU700D can be purchased at Sam’s Club or Costco. A TU7100 variant is available in the UK. This model can be purchased from between 43 and 75 inches. Black Friday is also offered as the UN70TU6980FXZA/UN82TU6980FXZA. It’s available in both a 70 and 82-inch size.

It is important to note that Samsung TVs’ four-letter model code FXZA can change between regions and among retailers. The TVs should all perform the same but they could have slight differences in performance, even the tuners.

Design & Features

The TU7000 has a stylish and sophisticated design. Two solid feet rest on the TV and prevent any wobble.

Samsung Image Credit: The meat of the TU7000’s TU7000 is its screen. Our review variant had a 65-inch display at a stunning 4K (3840×2160 resolution) and a 60hz refresh speed. It has a remarkable contrast and black-level performance, excellent saturation and exact colors, as well great picture detail across both gaming and viewing modes. It can also upscale non-4K material very well. That makes for great viewing no matter what program you are using.

The TU7000 Smart TV will not disappoint if you are looking for a television that is loaded with your favourite streaming services. Tizen OS runs on this model and has easy animations. This allows you to navigate apps like Netflix. Hulu. HBO Max. Apple TV. The TU7000 has only two HDMI ports, so it renders Roku and Firestick virtually inoperable.

Auto Game Mode (AGM), a feature that the TU7000 has, optimizes your screen for whatever input you have plugged into it. That means you won’t have to change between image modes when switching back and forth from gaming to Netflix. I was even able to find that my television turned on my Xbox while I navigated directly to it. However, this feature is a bit inconsistent.

Image Processor

TU7002 like TU8500 , is equipped with a “Crystal Processor 4K” processor. It is not known if this processor has any differences to those used in the QLED models. It’s evident, however that older versions of the processor lack image- and sound processing capabilities.

And while AI technology may seem like a very cool and buzzword to use in marketing, the Crystal Processor 4K does an excellent job of upscaling images from low resolution to 4K without it. All of the conclusions in this review are applicable to the Samsung TU8000 series.

The images processed look excellent without any significant scaling artifacts. Samsung’s less-powerful processor has made this possible.

However, unlike the TU8510 line, AI image processing in this series is not lost. Sound goodies, as well as AI-related audio capabilities are absent from this line. The TU7002U’s only feature is “Adaptive Sounds” and it does not have any sound enhancement.

Samsung

In the TVs department, Samsung seems to be on a roll and has not stopped in recent years. OLED may still be the king in image quality but Samsung has managed to remain the number one manufacturer for more than any other competitor would like. Samsung is a bit more mixed up for 2020, as the 8K TVs have brought about a greater performance. And while QLEDs are their main attraction for one more year in our Samsung TU7000 review today we will be looking at a model that is mostly aimed for the most cost sensitive market.

Processor Technology Used

Crystal series features a number of differences to those in 4K or 8K QLEDs. The most noticeable is the new processor. Like the TU8000 we tested, this TU7000 comes with what Samsung calls a Crystal Processor 4K. There is not much information available on this processor’s capabilities compared with the QLEDs. However, one thing that immediately stands out is its lack of AI capabilities.

Even though AI seems like a cool marketing word, the Crystal Processor 4K could still be used to up-scale low resolution images in 4K. Similar observations were made in the Samsung TU8000 and TU7000 reviews. The quality of the up-scaled images was great, with very few artifacts. It is clear that Samsung excelled in this field even with less powerful processors. We did try from very low resolution images that ranged from 480p all the way up to 1080p and the resulting images had good clarity with enough details.

But as with the TU8000, it’s not only the AI image processing that is lost as there are certain audio features that are connected with this AI that are missing as well. The TV’s audio features are limited to Adaptive Sound, and nothing else. But we will analyze this part in the dedicated audio section.

Brightness / Contrast

Next, we will move on to the brightness tests. For this one as we usually do in most of our reviews we used the Movie picture mode that tends to give the most accurate colors and set the brightness to max. With these settings the TV managed to give us 241 nits of SDR brightness over a 10% window. Our average is 241 nits. This means that the SDR brightness requirement for TVs are not too high. It will still struggle to work in bright lighting. The TV will do better under lower light conditions. Keep this in mind, depending on which use you are using it.

On the HDR brightness over a 10% window we got 259 nits which is very low and in no case it can make HDR real justice. Due to its limited capabilities, the TU7000 is unable to display high-quality highlights. This can lead directly to a decrease in the HDR image’s quality. The numbers that we obtained are generally in-line with our expectations and slightly less than those from the TU8000 test. You will not find HDR TVs with the Crystal series. The Samsung Q60T is the best option. The blacks in low-light rooms will appear very deep, which will not detract from the experience.

Unfortunately the TU7000 is not a bright TV. We can also say that the TU7000 is not a bright TV in HDR or SDR content. You should keep this in mind as you look at this TV.

Samsung Tu7000 4K Hdr Tv Review

UN55TU7000 2160p 60Hz Smart LED/LCD TV Intro Samsung’s standard lineup (basic models) for 2020 currently consists of four models. However, the number of models could increase as we move forward in 2019. However, this is only speculation on my part. The TU8000 or TU7000 basic models are available at the moment. That latter model is the subject of the review.

The TU7000 is an entry-level 4K model and is available in a wide range of screen sizes which include: 43″ ($299.99), 50″ ($349.99), 55″ ($399.99), 58″ ($449.99), 65″ ($549.99), 70″ ($749.99), and 75 inches ($999.99).

Design & Features

Side view The TU7000 looks great, particularly for an entry level model. The overall design is elegant and sophisticated, with a ultra-thin frame surrounding the semi-glossy-coated LCD screen. The slim bezel design that the TU7000 showcases was once only found on much more expensive models, but has now become commonplace on many of the flat panel designs currently being manufactured; this gives the TU7000 a much classier, and dare I say, expensive look.

The TU7000 features edge-lit LED Backlighting, which illuminates the screen. This is not local dimming.

The TU7000 has two sturdy feet. These can easily be inserted and pressed into the TV’s base. No tools are required. This gives the TV a lot of stability. I was able to rock the panel gently back and forth with minimal wobbling.

The TU7000 has a panel thickness of approximately 2.4 inches. Overall, the TU7000 is solidly constructed and doesn’t appear or feel cheaply made.
