It scared me a lot. I fitted a Hepu Pump when I replaced my thermostat and pump a few months earlier. I didn’t think twice because I have a Volvo and, as others have said, it’s considered the best pump available in the Volvo world. I think you are right about the Hepu pump’s ugly impeller. I wish mine would last for 80k. My mechanic told me that the Hepu pump should be fine, but that he prefers the composite/plastic pump to metal because it’s more balanced. FWIW I only had issues with the pump for about 40k miles (hard). Hepu is a well-known brand, and their E46 pump has received positive reviews. While I do hope that you enjoy a much better experience, it is unlikely I’ll ever use their E46 water pump again. paraklas

I have done some research on the internet about Hepu and Graf, both having decent reviews,( autos in general) and Graf perhaps above the Hepu. Both products are German …..

Conversely, ive read, on Saab sites there are Lots of failures with the Hepu’s water pumps on the Saabs OEM water pumps are slightly outrageously priced….

Are Graf Water Pumps Any Good?

5.0 out of 5 starsGood value for money, includes an o-ring and a light weight stainless impeller. This has worked well so far. The metal impeller was not as strong as the stainless steel one. It is lighter than other aluminum impellers I have seen. A bearing failure is less likely if there’s less weight.
